Mechatronic engineer (training period 3.5 years)

The mechatronic engineer's main activities include the assembly and maintenance of complex machines and systems in the machine and machine tool industry and also at the users of these systems.

Mechatronic engineers often work as part of a team. They coordinate their work with the various upstream and downstream processes. They carry out their activities autonomously at different locations, primarily installation sites, in workshops or in the service sector, observing the relevant requirements and safety regulations in the documents and instructions provided. Key aspects of the profession are qualifications in control technology, including electropneumatics and hydraulics, electrical engineering, electronics (PLC) and computer-assisted control systems. Manual and mechanical material processing, the assembly of mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and electronic components, system installation and maintenance as well as maintenance of system parts, are also part of this multi-faceted profession. Qualified apprentices in this profession are also deemed to be skilled electricians for the purposes of the accident prevention regulations.

 

Industrial mechanic (training period 3.5 years)

The industrial mechanic's main activities include the manufacture, maintenance and monitoring of technical systems.

They are involved:

  • in the set-up
  • retooling and commissioning of production systems
  • manufacture of components and assemblies and also installation
  • identify errors and their causes, document them, repair them
  • retool machines and systems, perform maintenance and inspections
  • select test methods and test equipment
  • hand over technical systems and products to customers and brief them on the system
  • ensure the serviceability of technical systems, check and upgrade electrotechnical components in control technology
